If you live in Oman and have been diagnosed with a heart valve or structural heart condition, you do not need to travel to India simply to find out where to begin.
At Heart Valve Experts (HVE), patients and families in Muscat, Salalah, Sohar and other parts of Oman can send recent medical records for specialist review before planning a journey to Mumbai.
The initial review may help clarify what your reports show, whether more information is needed and whether an assessment in India would be a reasonable next step.
Depending on your condition, the possible pathways may include monitoring, medicines, heart surgery or a catheter-based procedure such as TAVI/TAVR, TEER or, in selected situations, TMVR.
A remote review can provide direction, but it cannot guarantee that a particular treatment will be suitable. Final eligibility may depend on an examination, detailed imaging and other investigations in Mumbai.
International Patients
Travelling from Oman to Mumbai for heart treatment involves important medical, financial and practical decisions. Reviewing your existing records first may help you understand whether an in-person assessment in India is likely to be useful.
Begin with the reports and images you already have. If important information is missing, the HVE team will explain which additional documents or original scan files may be needed.

The review may suggest further tests, a video consultation, continued care in Oman or an assessment in Mumbai. If travel is recommended, confirm the specialist, hospital, language support and expected assessment period before booking your trip.

For large echocardiogram videos or DICOM files, ask HVE for the accepted transfer instructions before sending them. DICOM files contain original medical images.
Ask your hospital or diagnostic centre in Oman for the complete digital study. Keep copies of the original files, as screenshots or photographs of reports do not replace the scan images.
Why Original DICOM Images MatterA written report summarises the findings, but it may not include all the anatomical information needed when considering TAVI or MitraClip.
Where available, ask your hospital or diagnostic centre in Muscat, Salalah, Sohar or your local city for the complete CD, USB copy or secure drive link containing the original DICOM files.
Original imaging may help the specialist understand the available anatomy and identify whether further testing is required. Final measurements and treatment eligibility may still need to be confirmed in Mumbai.
Share records with the patient’s permission. If a family member or referring doctor is sending the information, explain their relationship to the patient and confirm how consent should be documented.

TAVI/TAVR and TEER, guided by your reports.
Aortic stenosis occurs when the aortic valve becomes narrowed, making it harder for blood to leave the heart. When severe aortic stenosis requires valve replacement, treatment options include surgical aortic valve replacement or TAVI/TAVR (interchangeable terms for a catheter-based procedure). Selection is individualized based on anatomy, heart function and overall surgical risk.
Mitral regurgitation occurs when the mitral valve does not close properly, allowing blood to leak backwards within the heart. Treatment options range from medical management to surgical repair, replacement or catheter-based edge-to-edge repair (TEER) using devices such as the MitraClip, depending on anatomical suitability and surgical risk.

Medical Visa
Omani nationals may be eligible to apply for an Indian e-Medical Visa. A regular Medical Visa is also available through the Embassy of India in Muscat and its authorised application process.
After medical acceptance, HVE can coordinate the relevant appointment or hospital invitation letter needed to support the application.
The Embassy of India in Muscat currently lists a recent local medical report and confirmation of consultation or appointment at an Indian hospital among the required documents for a regular Medical Visa.
Patients should check their current eligibility, required documents, permitted attendants and application route through the embassy and the official Government of India visa portal.
A hospital invitation letter supports the application but does not guarantee approval. The appropriate government authority makes the final decision. The Embassy of India in Muscat states that up to two attendants who are blood relatives may accompany an eligible medical-visa applicant, subject to the applicable visa process.
Avoid non-refundable travel bookings until the visa, appointment and hospital pathway have been confirmed.
International Patients
Before making travel arrangements, confirm your consultation address, proposed hospital, likely assessment period and estimated stay.
Tell HVE if you need Arabic language support, airport assistance or help arranging accommodation. Discuss fitness to fly with your treating doctor and check any medical-clearance or mobility requirements with the airline.
Confirm the treatment estimate, payment arrangements and possible additional costs. Budget separately for flights, accommodation, your companion’s expenses and any extended stay.

Before leaving India, obtain your discharge summary, investigation results, procedure report, prescriptions and follow-up plan.
Make sure you understand your medicines, activity restrictions, wound or catheter-site care, warning signs and timing of repeat tests. Share the complete record with your cardiologist in Oman.
Remote follow-up with HVE may support continuity, but it does not replace routine monitoring or urgent care in Oman.
After HVE reviews your medical records, you may request a written estimate of the expected treatment costs. Check whether it includes consultations, imaging, investigations, the procedure, implants, medicines and hospital accommodation.
Confirm the payment arrangements and ask which costs may be additional. Budget separately for flights, accommodation, your companion’s expenses and any extended stay. The final cost may change after assessment or if further treatment is needed.
